Tripura announces one-year upper age limit relaxation for govt jobs due to Covid-19 outbreak
Agartala: The Tripura government has relaxed the upper one-year age limit for candidates aspiring to various government positions, whose recruitments have been blocked due to the epidemic of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
The current upper age limit for candidates for government positions is 40 years.
“Elated to express that the government granting a one-year relaxation of the upper age limit for all categories of candidates for the direct recruitment of various positions to be advertised by various departments, TPSC (Commissions de la Public Service of Tripura), PSU (Public Service Companies) and state public bodies. The decision was made following the Covid-19 pandemic. Relaxation will be done as a one-off measure. A memorandum will soon be published in this regard” wrote chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb on an article published on social networks.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Ratan Lal Nath said: “Tripura is the only one to have decided to grant a single relaxation in the upper age limit for candidates who come for the direct recruitment process. It will remain in force until December 31 from the date of issue of the notification. “
The student wing of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), recently asked the CM to grant a relaxation of the upper age limit for candidates aspiring to government jobs.
“We are grateful to the CM for granting the single relaxation in the upper age limit for aspirants to a government job,” said Rupam Datta, organizing secretary, ABVP, Tripura.
